Please read these terms before you order. They explain how buying from Chuffin’ Ale online works, including delivery, collection, event tickets, and what to do if you change your mind or something’s not right.
1. About us
These terms apply when you buy from us online at chuffinale.co.uk or through our apps. We’re Chuffin' Ale Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 17408258, registered office 4 Ormerod Street, Rawtenstall, Rossendale, BB4 8EB. Our shop is at 42 Bank Street, Rawtenstall, Lancashire, BB4 8DY. You can reach us at chuffin.ale@gmail.com. These terms don’t affect your legal rights as a consumer.
2. Over 18s only
We sell alcohol, so you must be 18 or over to buy from us, and you must not buy on behalf of anyone under 18. By placing an order you confirm you’re 18 or over.
We may ask for photo ID when you collect an order or come to an event, following the Challenge 25 approach. If we can’t confirm you’re 18 or over, we won’t hand over alcohol and we’ll refund you.
3. Your account and placing an order
You need a Chuffin’ Ale account to order. Please keep your password private, since you’re responsible for orders placed with your account.
Our contract with you starts when your payment is taken and we email you an order confirmation. We may cancel an order and refund you in full if an item turns out to be out of stock, if there’s an obvious pricing mistake, or if we have reason to believe the order breaks the age rules above. We’ll let you know by email if that happens.
4. Prices and payment
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Delivery costs are shown before you pay. Payment is taken by card through Stripe when you place your order. We never see or store your card details.
We check prices carefully, but if we find a product was clearly priced wrongly, we’ll contact you before sending it and you can choose to go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
5. Offers and loyalty stamps
Bundle offers (for example “2 for £70”) are applied automatically in your basket while they’re running and while stock lasts. Where more items qualify than fit a deal, the most expensive qualifying items go into it. Each item counts towards one offer only. We can end or change an offer at any time, but not for an order you’ve already paid for.
Loyalty stamps: you earn 1 stamp for every £10 you spend on an online order (and half a stamp for a remaining £5 or more), after any offer savings and not counting delivery. Collect 10 stamps for a free drink in the shop. Stamps have no cash value, can’t be transferred or exchanged, and we may remove them if the order that earned them is refunded. We’ll give reasonable notice before making any significant change to the scheme.
6. Delivery and click & collect
Click & collect is free. We’ll email you when your order is ready. Collect it from the shop during our opening hours and quote your order number.
Delivery is to UK addresses by Royal Mail Tracked 48. It costs £6.99, and it’s free when your products come to £79.99 or more (after offer savings) or when you’re in a BB4, BB5 or BB6 postcode. We’ll email you when it’s on its way, with tracking where available.
We aim to send orders promptly and will always deliver within 30 days unless we agree otherwise. As your order contains alcohol, please make sure it’s received by someone aged 18 or over and not left with anyone younger.
The items become yours, and our responsibility for them ends, once they’re delivered to you or collected.
7. Event tickets
Tickets are for an event on a specific date. By law, the 14-day right to cancel doesn’t apply to them, so tickets can’t be cancelled or refunded just because you change your mind or can’t attend.
If we cancel an event, or move it to a date you can’t make, we’ll refund your ticket in full. We’ll email your ticket after payment. Just show it at the door. Events are for over 18s, and we may ask for ID.
8. Changing your mind: your 14-day right to cancel
For products (not event tickets) you can cancel your order for any reason within 14 days of the day you receive or collect it. To cancel, email chuffin.ale@gmail.com with your order number and what you’d like to return.
- Return the items within 14 days of telling us, in the condition you received them. You pay the cost of returning them.
- Because they’re drinks, bottles and cans that have been opened or had their seal broken can’t be returned for hygiene and health reasons.
- We’ll refund you within 14 days of receiving the items back (or proof that you’ve sent them), to the card you paid with. If you return your whole order, the refund includes the standard delivery charge you paid.
- If an item’s value has been reduced by handling it more than you’d need to in a shop, we may reduce the refund to reflect that.
9. Faulty, damaged or wrong items
Everything we sell must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If something arrives damaged, faulty or isn’t what you ordered, please email us with your order number and a photo. You can reject it for a full refund within 30 days, and we’ll cover any return costs. After 30 days, you may still be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.
Letting us know quickly (ideally within 48 hours for breakages in transit) helps us sort it faster with the courier, but it doesn’t reduce your legal rights.
10. Our responsibility to you
If we don’t keep to these terms, we’re responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result. We’re not responsible for losses that weren’t foreseeable, or for business losses, as we sell to consumers for private use.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for your rights as a consumer. Please enjoy our drinks responsibly.
11. Everything else
How we use your personal information is explained in our privacy & cookies policy. We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to it.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you have a problem, please contact us first and we’ll do our best to put it right. If we can’t, you can take it to the courts of England and Wales (or Scotland or Northern Ireland, if you live there).
